And because residents design and organize events, lectures, concerts, and entertainment, you are assured of finding plenty of intellectual stimulation.

Our location allows you to simply walk out the door and be in town or at the University in just minutes. This offers convenient access to classes, galleries, shopping, and cultural events. Public transportation is also nearby, so you can catch the train to San Francisco or the South Bay.
Immersed in Community
Channing House is located in a charming residential neighborhood in downtown Palo Alto, and many of our residents have long been active in community affairs. In fact, Channing House residents contribute over 500 hours per month of service to local organizations, including Stanford Hospital, school literacy programs, Theatreworks, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ronald MacDonald House, Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital, Museum of American History, Palo Alto Police Department, the Senior Olympics, League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, and many others, including local churches and synagogues.
